Charlie Hunter Long-scale 7-string Prototype

full view ... closeup ... side ... back ... description

Custom made for Charlie, dated 10-00, this 7 string is a distinct departure from his signature specifications. This is more “bass-like” than “guitar-like,” with a 1/2" string spacing at the bridge and a 32 1/4" bass scale length. The treble scale length is 28", making this a versatile instrument, capable of accepting a wide range of string gauges with many tuning possibilities. Charlie used it tuned (low to high) EAD (like a bass) and ADGB (like a guitar). He like the sound of the long scale as compared to his signature model, but the long scale was harder to play in his style because of the finger stretch required at times.
