Expression Semi-hollow 6-string

The Expression semi-hollowbody series is designed to deliver the sweet, warm, round attack of a hollowbody instrument while retaining the sustain and feedback resistance of a solidbody. Additionally, the gracefully arched top, figured woods, and matching body and fretboard binding pay tribute to the classic hollowbody aesthetic, and the lighter weight is a bonus. The Expression semi-hollowbody series features optional piezo saddle transducers with a magnetic/piezo stereo preamp for an amazingly rich acoustic-electric sound.

The body is crafted of mahogany, with a fully chambered interior, and your choice of top wood: spruce, for a warm, smooth tone with a “woody” character, lacewood for a smooth tone with more “bounce”, highly figured walnut for a more pronounced attack with a big midrange, or highly figured maple for a snappier attack with strong highs.

The neck has a 1 3/4 inch nut width and is hand-carved from vertical grain Eastern maple, and vertical grain mahogany is available on custom order. The patented Fanned-Fret system, a Novax innovation, is standard on all models.

Fretboard woods include ebony and rosewood, with various exotic woods like bubinga, osage orange, purpleheart, and others, available on a custom order basis. The body and fretboard are bound with your choice of matching ivoroid, white, tortoiseshell, or black bindings, and the headstock is overlaid to match the body.

The Novax proprietary individual bridge system with Graph Tech saddles minimizes string-to-string crosstalk for a focused, articulate tone.

Electronic configurations include:

• a single soapbar pickup in the neck position, with a volume and tone control
• dual soapbars with a 5 position rotary switch
• three single-coils with a 6 position rotary switch

The optional piezo transducer bridge saddles with magnetic/piezo stereo preamp (add $425.00) is available with all pickup combinations and includes a piezo volume control, 3 position switch (to select piezo output, magnetic output, or a blend of both) and a “smart jack” that senses a stereo or mono instrument cord.

The XR (extended range) neck, uniquely suited for “drop tuning”, is available on the Expression semi-hollowbody models.
